The difference

Why a bucket
beats a bag

Melts on contact

The calcium and magnesium chloride blend starts working as soon as it hits ice, down to -20°F.

Stays dry

The resealable lid keeps out moisture, so there are no clumps, no wet bag, and no mess.

Full weight

Every bucket is weighed on a scale and sealed in New Jersey. No half-empty buckets.

Grab & go

The carry handle and a lid that stays on make it easy to use, stack, and store.

A typical bag

  • Tears open and spills
  • Absorbs moisture and clumps
  • Hard to reseal
  • Messy to scoop from

A Stoopside bucket

  • Durable, resealable pail
  • Product stays dry and free-flowing
  • Snaps shut after every use
  • Sits neatly by the door
How to use

Three steps to a clear stoop

Shovel first

Remove as much snow as you can, so the ice melt goes straight to the ice.

Spread evenly

Sprinkle ¼–½ cup (2–4 oz) per square yard. More doesn't melt faster.

Clear the slush

Push away the slush and water once it melts, so it can't refreeze. Reapply as needed.

¼–½ cupper square yard (about 3 ft × 3 ft). One 15 lb bucket treats roughly 540–1,080 sq ft per application.
Use it right

Safety & surfaces

Safer for pets & concrete

When used as directed, our blend is gentler on paws and properly cured concrete than plain rock salt. After winter walks, rinse or wipe your pet's paws. Don't let pets eat ice melt.

Do not use on

  • Pre-cast concrete steps or pre-cast masonry walks
  • Poor-quality concrete, or concrete less than 1 year old
  • Excessive amounts. Overuse can cause flaking or scaling
  • Heavy application near lawns and plants

Caution

Harmful if swallowed. Eye contact may cause injury. Keep out of reach of children. Wear gloves when handling, and wash your hands afterward.

First aid

Eyes: Flush with water for 15 minutes and get medical attention. Skin: Flush with water. If swallowed: Call a doctor or Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.

FAQ

Good questions

How cold can it get and still work?

Stoopside melts ice down to -20°F. At very low temperatures it works more slowly, so shovel first and give it a few extra minutes.

How much should I use?

Use ¼–½ cup per square yard, which is about a 3 ft × 3 ft area. Spread it thinly and evenly. Using more doesn't melt faster, and it can be harder on concrete and plants.

Is it safe for my concrete?

Used as directed, it's gentler on properly cured concrete than plain rock salt. Don't use it on concrete less than a year old, on pre-cast steps, or on poor-quality concrete.

Is it safe for pets?

Used as directed, it's a safer choice for pets than plain rock salt. Keep pets from eating it, and rinse or wipe their paws after walks on treated surfaces.

Which size should I buy?

The 15 lb bucket is right for stoops, steps, and walkways. The 30 lb bucket covers driveways and longer sidewalks, or lasts most homes the whole season.

How should I store it?

Snap the lid shut after every use. Store it somewhere cool and dry, where any leakage can't cause damage.

Where can I buy it?

Stoopside is coming to Amazon soon. Stores and businesses can buy wholesale through the contact form below.
